The Newmarket Hawks came to Don Beer Field for the Sox home opener on Wednesday, and veteran Shaun Slemko got the ball for the Hawks.  The game was not much in doubt after the Sox put up 8 runs in the bottom of the first, mainly because of some off season rust of the Hawks pitching staff (4 walks and 2 hit batters in the first).  From there the Sox pitching staff closed out the game, Shaun Slemko 4 innings 1 run, Corey Jeffery 1 inning, win, and 2 runs, and Yusuke Oshima 1 inning, 3 unearned runs Sox newcomer Nick Greenslade reached base 4 times (single,HBP, and 2 walks) and got 2 RBI to lead the offense.  After the win there will be no time to rest as the Sox travel to Centennial Park to take on the Martingrove White Sox in less then 24 hours.  Getting the ball for the Sox will be veteran Dan Connolly.
