It is a busy week for the Red Sox, and things did not get off to a good start.

Early on, the Red Sox bats were able to put up a three-spot in the top of the first, thanks to some early hits, patient at bats - and good two out approaches.  Unfortunately for Pickering, Newmarket would answer with three of their own in the bottom of the frame, squaring things up.

From there, Newmarket took the lead in the bottom of the second and never looked back, winning 19-9 in a lopsided, shortened affair.

The Hawks made Pickering pay for just about every mistake made (and there were many) - hitting the ball hard after being given some extra outs throughout the contest.

The good news for the Red Sox is that there is not much time to stew over this one, as they are set to play a home game against East York at 7:30pm on Wednesday night.
