The Red Sox travelled to Sarnia / Pt. Lambton over the weekend for their second tournament of the year. Although not the result that was hoped for , some good baseball was played at some beautiful parks.
In the first game, the Kincardine Cubs surprised the Red Sox and stuck it to them as the Sox lost the tourney opener 13-4. Errors were the undoing for the Red Sox comitted numerous errors that cost them. Peter Nash took the loss.
The second game saw the Sox take a 3 run lead into the top of the 7th versus the eventual tournament champion Sarnia Braves, where once again defence was its ondoing giving up 3 and then another one in the 8th to lose in-extra innings. Mark Cheeseman pitched 7 strong innings giving up 3 unearned runs in the 7th. Corey Jeffrey took the loss in relief. Drew Roberts and Sean Molony led the team with two hits a piece.
In the final game of the weekend, the Red Sox took on the Michigan Braves. Receiving 6 1/3 innings for the win and Jeffrey mopped up the last inning for the save. The final score in the game 7-6. Offensively the team was led by Jeremy Marinelli and Jack Bowman who both had two hits a piece.
The Red Sox return to the diamond on Wednesday to take on the Kendal Eagles at Don Beer. Game start 7:30pm
